Baby boy Zyhar Luciano Prieto, affectionately known as "Lucky," was born on August 15, 2024, to Aurellio Deleon Jr. and Anna Inacia Prieto in Lubbock. He briefly illuminated our world until his untimely passing on October 1, 2024. Though his time with us was heart breakingly short, his spirit touched the hearts of many with a sweetness that belied his struggles.
From the very start, Zyhar faced challenges that would have been insurmountable for most. For a month, he fought valiantly in the NICU, embodying a resilience and tenacity that left an indelible impression on everyone who had the honor of knowing him. Yet, through each trial, Lucky proved to be a remarkable survivor, aptly earning his nickname.
Lucky was described as precious, innocent, and sweet a little boy whose joyful smile seemed to radiate warmth and love. Those who were fortunate enough to spend time with him felt the essence of pure joy he exuded, a reminder of the brighter aspects of life even in the face of adversity. His mother adored the theme of elephants for him, symbols of strength and love, which perfectly captured the spirit of this extraordinary infant.
As we remember Zyhar Luciano Prieto, let us carry forth his legacy of strength, innocence, and unwavering love. He may have left this world, but the joy and love he brought to those who loved him will never fade.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Andy Esquivel and his maternal great-grandmother, Ana Maria Prieto.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted parents, Aurellio Deleon Jr. and Anna Inacia Prieto, and his cherished siblings, Annaleece Lena Prieto and Azaydren Andy Prieto. Lucky’s grandparents, Judy Ann Gomez and Jose Valenzuela, feel his absence deeply, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from Lubbock, all of whom will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
