Virginia Licon Casarez "Virgie"

June 5, 1949 — August 10, 2024

Viewing and visitation for Mrs. Virginia Licon Casarez "Virgie", 75 of Lubbock will begin Tuesday, August 13, 2024, 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Rudy Crasta officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel. 

On the evening of Saturday, August 10, 2024, Virginia went to be with the Lord. She was born on June 5, 1949, in Big Springs, Texas, to the late Nestor and Luz Licon. Later in life on July 2, 1966, Virginia went on to marry Socorro Casarez "Joe" in Lubbock cherishing fifty-seven years of a loving marriage. She dedicated numerous years of her life as a valued member of the housekeeping department at Holiday Inn. Her dedication to her work left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of crossing her path.Virginia was a devout Catholic and served as a cursillista for Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for many years. Her dedication to her faith and community was evident in all that she did.Virginia found immense joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a profound love for watching baseball, especially the Texas Rangers, and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. In her leisure time, she enjoyed crafting and the occasional visit to the casinos. However, her greatest source of happiness came from spending quality time with her cherished family. Virginia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Nestor and Luz Licon; her brother Pedro Licon; a sister Francisca Garcia; a son, Albert Lee Casarez and a granddaughter Samantha Nicole Casarez.

She is survived by her loving husband, Socorro Casarez "Joe" of Lubbock; her two sons, Alfonso Casarez and Orlando Casarez, both of Lubbock; her two daughters, Elisa Hernandez and Yolanda Pesina, also of Lubbock; a brother, Benjamin Licon Sr. of Lubbock; a sister, Connie Licon of Lorenzo; fifteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
