Funeral services will be Monday July 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan Elho officiating. Interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.
Tommie went to be with the Lord on Saturday July 1, 2017. She was born on September 22, 1926 in Havana, Texas to the late Donato and Paulita Gandaria.
She married Miguel Alaniz Sr. in July of 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1965.
Tommie worked as a nurse’s aide at Lockney General Hospital for many years. She loved shopping and was a great fashionista. She loved to cook, bake, and sew. She loved to spend her time watching football, golf, Nascar and playing bingo.
Most of all she loved to spend time with her family.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Armando Adan Alaniz and Miguel Alaniz Jr, a brother Aurelio Gandaria.
She is survived by three sons; Adolpho “Fito” Alaniz of Plainview, Arnoldo “Bay”and Tammy Alaniz of Lubbock and Alfredo “Fred” and Bianca Alaniz of Amarillo. Four daughters; Aida Alaniz and Jimmy Alatorre of Grape Creek, Amalia “Molly” and the late Ben Gonzales of Lubbock, Alva and Hector Gonzales of Plainview and Arcelia “Sally” and Jerry Rodriguez of Lockney. Three brothers Ignacio Gandaria of Palmview, Donato Gandaria Jr. of Mission and Enrique Gandaria of Hollister, California. Five sisters; Ninfa Bermea of Sullivan City, Celia Torres of San Angelo, Irma Garza of Rio Grande City, Gloria Flores of La Joya, Maria Luisa Quintanilla of Donna, TX, 20 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Area Community Hospice in memory of Tomasita Alaniz, 4300 Olton Rd., Plainview, TX 79072.
