Viewing and visitation for Mr. Ruben L. Stone Sr., 65 of Lubbock will begin at 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2025, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Father Martin Pina officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
On the morning of Friday, February 21, 2025, Ruben went to be with the Lord. He was born on February 5, 1960, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to the Alexander and Francis Stone. Later in life in on November 22, 1977, Ruben married Linda Herrera cherishing forty-seven years of a loving marriage.
Ruben was a dedicated handyman and known for his craftsmanship in building concession stands and painting, showcasing his talent and commitment to his work. He always strived to perfect every venture.
Ruben had a warmth that drew people in; he loved talking to others and never met a stranger. His friendly demeanor and genuine interest in those around him made him a cherished figure in his community and among his family. Ruben reveled in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was fishing, riding around eating burritos, or enjoying a cold Dr. Pepper while chatting with friends.
He was also a culinary master in his own right, known especially for his exceptional barbecuing skills. His love of racing cars often added an adventurous spark to his already vibrant personality.
However, his greatest joy in life was being a father and grandfather, his family will always cherish the memories they have with him. Ruben will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his father Alexander Stone; sisters Delia Rodriguez and Lucy Stone.
He is survived by his wife Linda H. Stone of Lubbock; sons Ruben Leonard Stone Jr., Alexander Stone (Julie) and Justin Stone (Ariel Suarez) all of Lubbock; daughters Zasulee Stone (Kevin Anzley) and Desiree Stone (Anthony Rios) all of Lubbock; His mother Francis Stone of Lubbock; brothers Joe Stone, Robert Stone, Larry Stone, Nicky Stone and Timmy Stone all of Greenville, Texas; sisters Sarah Ceballos, Anna Stone, Betty Stone, Josie Stone and Vicky Herrera all of Greenville, Texas; sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
