Ruben Ramirez

Viewing and visitation for Ruben Ramirez, 61 of Lubbock will begin 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel in Lubbock, Texas. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

Ruben passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, February 1, 2024. He was born October 12, 1962, in Lubbock to Gloria Bastardo and was later raised by her and Jose Bastardo. He was known for his impressive skills as a handyman. With his expert craftsmanship and attention to detail, he could fix anything that came his way.

Beyond his career as a handyman, Ruben had a multitude of interests that brought him immense happiness. He found solace in the simple pleasure of cruising along the streets while listening to music. Additionally, Ruben cherished spending time with his family. He adored family reunions where he could catch up with loved ones and create everlasting memories together.

Ruben will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ruben is preceded in death by his mother Gloria Bastardo; brothers Matias Ortiz Jr. and Ernesto Ortiz and a daughter Melissa Ramirez.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son Johnny Ramirez and wife Melinda of Wolfforth; a daughter Ivette Ramirez of Slaton; his father Jose Bastardo of Lubbock; a sister Leticia and her husband Felix Cobos of Lubbock; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
