Obituary:
Petra "Patsy" Ortiz, 81 passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at her residence. Services for Mrs. Ortiz will be 10:00 am Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Monsignor James O'Connor officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home. There will be a rosary held 7:00 Thursday evening at Calvillo Funeral Home.
Patsy was born June 23, 1932 in Louise, Texas to Guadalupe and Petra Gonzales. She married Raymond Ortiz on March 17, 1952 in Cuero, Texas. She worked as a seamstress for most of her life and was a member of Threads of Love; Rae of Hope, Lubbock Chapter; and of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Being very creative, she enjoyed working on crafts but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Raymond Ortiz of Lubbock; one son, Robert Lee Ortiz of Lubbock; two daughters, Peggy Ann Ariaz, Rachel Mendieta both of Lubbock; one brother, Norberto Gonzales of San Antonio; four sisters, Monica Cabrera, Lupita Reyes, Mary Jasso all of Houston, Felicita Cardenas of Louise; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jennifer Rae Ariaz; one great granddaughter, Angel Marie Ariaz; one brother, Enemencio Gonzales; two sisters, Barbara Garcia, Ursula Molina.
