Mario M. Gonzalez, 61 of Lubbock passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Viewing will begin Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Calvillo Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 6:00p.m. the same day. Funeral Mass will begin on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 2:00p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Rudy Crasta officiating. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
Mario was born July 22, 1961, in Mexico to the late Jesus and Vicenta Gonzalez. He later went onto marry Maria Ortiz in 1996 in Lubbock, treasuring twenty-six years of marriage and thirty-nine years being together. Mario, worked as a cook in the restaurant business and most recently for Copper Caboose Restaurant. Mario, a Catholic by faith, loved his wife very much and loved all his grandchildren. He had a tremendous memory, he always remembered all his families’ birthdays, was very good at numbers and loved dancing. He will be remembered as a great teacher and irreplaceable person.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Vicenta Gonzalez; a daughter Viola Ortiz; two sisters Maria Juarez and Luz Maria Gonzalez; and by a nephew Adrian Gonzalez.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Maria Gonzalez of Mexico; sons Juan Carlos Gonzalez of Amarillo, Mario Eduardo Gonzalez of Lubbock and Mario M. Gonzalez of Lubbock; one daughter April Gonzalez Moreno of Lubbock; four brothers Guadalupe Gonzalez of Lubbock, Oscar Gonzalez of Lubbock, Manuel Gonzalez of Lubbock and Cornelio Gonzalez of Houston; two sisters, Apolonia Saenz and Cruz Rodriguez both of Lubbock, seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mario nació el 22 de julio de 1961 en México, hijo del difunto Jesús y Vicenta González. Mario, trabajó como cocinero en el negocio de restaurantes y más recientemente para el restaurante Copper Caboose. Mario, católico de fe, amaba mucho a su esposa y amaba a todos sus nietos. Tenía una memoria tremenda, siempre recordaba los cumpleaños de todas sus familias, era muy bueno para los números y le encantaba bailar. Será recordado como un gran maestro y una persona insustituible.
Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres Jesús y Vicenta González; una hija Viola Ortiz; dos hermanas María Juárez y Luz María González; y por un sobrino Adrián González.
