Maria Rosas

Maria Sylvia Rosas, 68 of Shallowater passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021.  Visitation will begin Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel (Lubbock) from 2:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral services will begin 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 17, 2021, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel (Lubbock) with Deacon Joe Morin officiating. Cremation arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.

"Sylvia" was born August 6, 1953, in Robstown, Texas to the late Jose and Felicita Perez. Later in life Maria went onto marry Guadalupe “Lupe” Rosas on December 12, 1970 in Shallowater. Sylvia was Catholic and a member of St. Phillip Benizi Catholic Church for numerous years. She loved fishing, camping, watching television, playing the Texas Lottery and listening to music. Sylvia, also loved to collect her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments, their handmade art works and graduation tassels she was always proud of all of them.

She is preceded in death by a son Roland Rosas (August 21, 2021); a sister Josephine Deleon (September 5, 2021); three brothers Jesse Fernandez (December 24, 2003), Fernando Fernandez (December 14, 2018) and Jose Luis Perez (September 10, 2021).

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Guadalupe “Lupe” Rosas of Shallowater; a son Reynaldo Rosas of Lubbock; a daughter Crystal Lee Rosas of Lubbock; a sister Zoila Orozco of Laredo; eight grandchildren Anthony Rosas, Amber Rosas, Clarice Rosas, Caraline Rosas, Reynaldo Rosas Jr., Lupillo Rosas, Jeremiah Rosas and Chloe Rosas.
