Viewing and Visitation for Maria De Lourdes Vasquez “Mari”, 74 of Lubbock will begin, 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Calvillo Funeral Home with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. A Celebration of Life will begin 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2025, with Deacon Jessie Cantu officiating. All arrangements were made by Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.

Maria is the daughter of David and Otilia Ramirez she was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on August 26, 1950. She married Lorenzo Vasquez in 1970, the father of her children. Maria worked for McDougal Properties for twenty-six years. One of her favorite hobbies was watching novellas, this included cowboy stories and “Little House on the Prairie.” She also enjoyed thrift shopping and talking on the phone with her brothers. Attending music concerts for numerous Mexican artists brought excitement to Maria, the Spanish melodies were a great form of entertainment for her. She enjoyed eating Chocolate Conchas and having her daily morning coffee. However, her greatest joy in life was her family, especially being a grandmother. She enjoyed joking around with her family and spent countless hours making memories that will last forever. 

Maria will be greatly missed by all who loved her and will be remembered for her high spirit and loving personality. 

She is preceded in death by her parents David and Otilia Ramirez; a daughter Anita Vasquez; sisters Socorro Ramirez, Elodia Ramirez and Josephina Lujan; and a grandson Keanu Morris.

She is survived by her children Icela Vasquez, Lorenzo Jr. Vasquez (Helen), Adam Vasquez (Vanessa), Javier Vasquez and Ryan Adam Vasquez all of Lubbock. Brothers Osvaldo Ramirez, Servando Ramirez and Rodrigo Ramirez all of Odessa; a sister Maria Elodia Ramirez of Lubbock; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

El velorio de María De Lourdes Vásquez “Mari”, 74 de Lubbock comenzará de 11:00 a. m. a 8:00 p. m., el viernes 3 de enero de 2025, en Calvillo Funeral Home con un rosario que comenzará a las 6:00 p. m. la misma tarde. Una Celebración de la Vida comenzará a las 10:00 a. m. del sábado 4 de enero de 2025, oficiada por el diácono Jessie Cantú. Todos los arreglos fueron hechos por Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.

María es hija de David y Otilia Ramírez. Nació en Ojinaga, Chihuahua, México el 26 de agosto de 1950. Se casó con Lorenzo Vásquez en 1970, el padre de sus hijos. María trabajó para McDougal Properties durante veintiséis años. Uno de sus pasatiempos favoritos era ver novelas cortas, incluidas historias de vaqueros y "La casa de la pradera". También le gustaba comprar cosas de segunda mano y hablar por teléfono con sus hermanos. Asistir a conciertos de música de numerosos artistas mexicanos le emocionó a María, las melodías españolas eran una gran forma de entretenimiento para ella. Le gustaba comer conchas de chocolate y tomar su café matutino diario. Sin embargo, su mayor alegría en la vida era su familia, especialmente ser abuela. Le gustaba bromear con su familia y pasó innumerables horas creando recuerdos que durarán para siempre.

Todos los que la amaban extrañarán mucho a María y la recordarán por su gran espíritu y su personalidad amorosa.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres David y Otilia Ramírez; una hija Anita Vásquez; las hermanas Socorro Ramírez, Elodia Ramírez y Josephina Luján; y un nieto, Keanu Morris.

Le sobreviven sus hijos Icela Vasquez, Lorenzo Jr. Vasquez (Helen), Adam Vasquez (Vanessa), Javier Vasquez y Ryan Adam Vasquez, todos de Lubbock. Los hermanos Osvaldo Ramirez, Servando Ramirez y Rodrigo Ramirez todos de Odessa; una hermana María Elodia Ramírez de Lubbock; catorce nietos y dieciocho bisnietos.
