Lydia Casares

Viewing and visitation for Lydia Lopez Casares, 81 of Lubbock will begin, 1p.m Saturday July 1, 2017 with a rosary following at 6p.m. in Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel.

Lydia passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. She was born on August 15, 1935 in Mesa, Texas to the late Jesse and Bartola Lopez. She married Doroteo Casares Sr. on April 23, 1952 in San Antonio. Cooking and keeping up with a clean home were important her and she enjoyed sewing, doing crosswords puzzles and gardening. Her greatest passion in life however was being a loving mother and grandmother; She was the glue that held they’re family together.

Lydia is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Doroteo Casares Sr; Sons, Tomas Casares and Fernando Casares; Daughters, Rachel Casares and Lupita Casares.

Survivors include sons, Albert Casares and Doroteo Casares Jr both of Lubbock; Daughters, Dorothy Casares and Grace Croyle both of Lubbock; Sisters ,Elena Marquez of Lubbock and Susie Guitron of El Paso. Eleven grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren.
