On the afternoon of Thursday, April 3, 2025, Louis went to be with the Lord. He was born on August 19, 1933, in Marlin, Texas to the late Porfirio and Natividad Rocha. Louis married Mary Ruiz cherishing numerous years of a loving marriage before she preceded him in death in 2003.
A career concrete layer by trade, Louis was not only skilled in his profession but also possessed a remarkable knack for crafting items of beauty, from furniture to mini sheds. His gift as a builder extended beyond his work; he had a green thumb, being a great gardener who nurtured the earth, and an extraordinary ability to connect with animals, earning him the affectionate title of "animal whisperer."
Louis’s life was marked by acts of kindness and community spirit, most notably when he selflessly assisted in the relief efforts following the devastation of the tornado that hit Lubbock in May of 1970. His compassion and willingness to lend a hand did not stop there—he loved his family fiercely and was always ready to help anyone in need, embodying the essence of what it means to be a dependable figure in their lives.
In his passing, the world has lost a true gentleman whose strength and wisdom will be sorely missed, yet his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched and the love he spread so generously. Rest in peace, dear Louis; your legacy of honesty, strength, and love will forever remain in the hearts of your family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Rocha and sons Jerry Rocha and Jesse Rocha.
He is survived by sons Steven Rocha of Shallowater and Larry Rocha (Angela) of Slaton; daughters Carolina Rocha of Slaton, Lisa Rocha of Slaton and Lupe Ferrell (Bernard) of Lubbock; a brother Willie Rocha of Slaton; a sister Lupe Collins of Houston and five grandchildren.
