Viewing and visitation for Leticia Lara Ramirez, 82 of Lubbock will begin Thursday, January 9, 2025, 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Life will begin Friday, January 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Noel Macasero officiating burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
On the evening of Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Leticia went to be with the Lord. She was born on July 24, 1942, in Bicos, Rizal, Nueva, Ecija, Philippines to the late Fernando and Guadalupe Lara.
Leticia dedicated her life to nurturing the minds and hearts of countless students across nations. For thirty years, she inspired children in her native Philippines, imparting knowledge and a love for literature before moving to Nigeria, where she continued her noble vocation for another ten years. Leticia was not just a teacher but a guiding light. Her passion for literature inspired countless students to explore the worlds within books, igniting their imaginations and encouraging them to dream. She believed that education was fundamental, and she approached her students with patience, kindness, and a genuine love for learning.
An avid reader, herself, Leticia, found joy in the pages of romance novels, where she would often lose herself in stories of love and adventure.
Leticia was a firm follower of socialism, she exemplified her values through active engagement in her community, often volunteering her time and talents to help those in need. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Leticia’s life was enriched by her deep faith, as she faithfully praised and worshiped God throughout her journey. His word was a guide for her through everyday life.
Leticia's spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, shining brightly as a testament to her unwavering dedication to education, her compassion for humanity, and the joy she found in everyday moments. The world is a little dimmer without her radiant smile, but her memory will inspire all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband Francisco Ramirez of Lubbock; her sons Fernan Lara of Escondido, CA; Louis Ramirez of Palmdel, CA; Cecilio Ramirez of Los Angeles, CA; Gil Ferdinad Lara of New Jersey; John Lara of Houston; and Frank Ramirez of Dumas; daughters Jocelyn Layamana of Lancaster, CA; Penelope Ramirez Conrad of Lancaster, CA; and April Kristine Ramirez of Lubbock; sister, Marie Vee-Lara Bru of Lancaster, CA, and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
