Mr. Julian “Hippo” Amalla, 46, of Lubbock departed this life into the hands of our Lord on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Viewing and visitation will begin Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., family will receive friends and family from 3:00pm-5:00pm. A Celebration of Life will be on Monday, February 6, 2023, at 2:00pm, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Alan Wallace officiating. Services were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
Julian was born on August 11, 1976, in Salinas, California, to Julian Amalla and Estella Esteban. He attended and graduated from Whitharral High School. On September 15, 2018, he married Heather “Dawn” Dyer in Lubbock. A hard worker Julian, worked for Norton Energy for numerous years as a driller. During his spare time, he enjoyed going fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, and barbecuing. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Red Raiders. Julian was known to have a big heart and was a very loyal person. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was the grandchildren’s “Popo” and they were his world. He will be forever in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Julian Amalla and Estella Esteban, also by a grandson Silas King.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Heather Amalla of Lubbock; two sons, Julian Amalla of Lubbock, and Mark Davis of Lawton, Oklahoma, three daughters, Mariah Amalla of Lubbock, Kirsten Davis of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Katlen Davis of Austin; seven brothers, Gregg Amalla of Portales, New Mexico, Juan “John” Amalla of Rhode Island, Steven Amalla of Lubbock, Sammy Amalla and wife Bernadette of Virginia, Wayne “Monte” Flake and wife Marissa of Lubbock, Jerry Janes and wife Valarie of Lubbock and Kenneth Amalla of Littlefield; one sister Letisha “TJ” Richardson and husband Levi of Levelland; four grandchildren, Annabelle, Rosalie, Avery and Avion.
Family will receive family and friends from 3:00 to 5:00p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2023.
