Viewing and visitation for Ms. Johnnia Areice Harrell, 58 of Abernathy, will begin Friday, July 5, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. A Graveside Service will begin Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Judy Wooten officiating under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

On the evening of July 2, 2024, Johnnia went to be with the Lord. She was born January 29, 1966, in Lubbock to the late John and Erastine Harrell. She was known for her feisty and stubborn nature along with a sense of humor that could brighten the darkest of days. 

Johnnia's journey was marked by achievements that spoke volumes of her strength and determination. Johnnia was a proud alumnus of Abernathy High School where she shone brightly in the realm of sports. Johnnia's victories included three state championships in basketball and a spirited participation in various track events. 

She also delighted in savoring meals from Pete’s Drive In and sipping on Coca-Cola drinks. 

Johnnia was a very important member of The First Assembly of God Church. Not only did Johnnia serve as a security guard, showcasing her commitment to the safety and well-being of others. Additionally, she expressed her musical talent as a drummer, filling the church with melodies that uplifted congregants' spirits. Her role on the advisory committee further demonstrated her dedication to supporting and guiding the church community.Johnnia Areice Harrell will be dearly missed but never forgotten. 

Her spirit will live on through the laughter she shared and the love she gave to those fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents John and Erastine Harrell; brothers Darrel Blevins and Dwayne Blevins; and a sister Velda Blevins.

Those left to cherish her memory are a brother Ricky Harrell (Pat) of Alabama; a sister Donna Tollett (Merlin) of The Colony, Texas; and her cherished friend and pastor Judy Wooten of Abernathy, Texas.
