Jim Zavala

Viewing for Jim G. Zavala, 87, of Kernes, will begin Thursday, July 16, 2020 10:00 AM-4:30 PM at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel-Lubbock. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, July 17, 2020 at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel-Lubbock with Deacon Joe Morin officiating. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.

Mr. Zavala went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2020. He was born on May 23, 1933 in Cameron, Texas to the late Amborosio and Juanita Zavala. On November 11, 1992 he married Mary Walker in Grand Prairie, Texas. Jim was an impeccable mechanic and cattle rancher by trade. He was an avid hunter, but also had a deep love and appreciation for animals. He also enjoyed going to the coast and fishing when he could. Jim was a loving husband, father and brother his family will always cherish the love he had for them.

He is preceded in death by three brothers Lupe Zavala, Ponciano Zavala and Frank Zavala.

Survivors include his loving wife Mary Zavala of Kernes; four sons Andrew Zavala of Kopper, Johnny Zavala of Arlington, Ernest Zavala of Stephenville and Michael Zavala of Grandbury; two daughters Mary Francis Eakins of Arlington and Ester Zavala of Cleburn; a brother Santos Zavala of Lubbock; two sisters Reyes Pena of Lubbock and Mary Gonzales of Odessa; six stepchildren, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
