Rosary for Jessie “Chuy” Galindo 82, of Lubbock will be held 7:00 P.M. Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Services for Mrs. Galindo will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 2, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Thanavelil officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.
Jessie was born October 26, 1935 in Deleon to Antonio and Maria Oliva. On October 11, 1958, she married Catarino Galindo in Idalou. Reading the newspaper, keeping up with current events and visiting her friends were some of her favorite hobbies. Jessie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She made sure they were always cared for, particularly by cooking her “best dish” carne guisada.
She is preceded in death by her husband Catarino Galindo (February 26, 2007); two sons Israel Galindo (1959) and Paul Berlanga (2008).
Those left to honor her memory are four sons Oscar Berlanga, Raul (Margie) Galindo, Pedro (Mary) Galindo and Frank (Annette) Galindo all of Lubbock; daughters Mary (Mario) Llanas, Kathy (Emilio Sr.) Adame, Dora Galindo, Patricia Galindo (Reyes) and Corina Rivas all of Lubbock; Brothers Edward “Lalo” Oliva of Lubbock, Antonio “Tony” Oliva of Lubbock and Freddie Flores of Virginia; sisters Ester Flores of Ft. Worth, Juanita Nerthling of Nevada, Rosa Flores of Waco, and Guadalupe Oliva of Lubbock; 31 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
