Guillermo Valdez

Guillermo Y. Valdez, 73 passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at his residence.  Services for Mr. Valdez will be 10:00 am Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Huddleston officiating.  Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held 7:00 Monday, April 3, 2017 at Calvillo Funeral Home.

Guillermo was born January 25, 1944 in San Antonio to Guadalupe & Manuela Valdez.  He married Janie Pacheco on November 13, 1962 in Lubbock and worked as a farmer for most of his life before working at Wal-Mart where he stayed until he couldn’t work any longer. He loved gardening, watching western movies, reading and working but mainly spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Valdez of Lubbock; three sons, Gilbert Valdez, Guillermo Valdez Jr., Angelo Valdez all of Lubbock; two daughters, Yolanda Garcia of Lubbock, Patricia Laureles of Slaton; one brother, Guadalupe Valdez Jr. of Post; one sister, Maria Lopez of Lubbock; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren and his beloved pet Canela.
