On the afternoon of Sunday, April 20, 2025, Gonzalo went to be with the Lord. He was born on August 3, 1956, in Hereford, Texas, to the late Juan and Catherine Alvarez. Gonzalo dedicated much of his life to service, working as a custodian at the Lubbock State School for an impressive twenty-nine years. His commitment to his job was only matched by the warmth and kindness he showed to everyone around him.

Gonzalo had an unparalleled passion for simple pleasures. He was known for his love of counting money, a hobby so beloved that he wore the numbers off his calculator. This meticulous nature extended to his devotion to his family and friends, where he assumed the role of a night security guard, always keeping a watchful eye on his loved ones through his home cameras. His loyalty and commitment offered them peace of mind.

Gonzalo also cherished the four-legged companions in his life, taking great care of his dogs whom he adored immensely. He found happiness in small, everyday moments - whether enjoying a delicious plate of enchiladas at "Anas Restaurant" or indulging in fried burritos from "All-Sups". These favorites provided him comfort and joy, grounding him in the love of food and family.

His presence was a blend of steadfastness and warmth, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him. As we gather to honor his life, we celebrate a man who lived fully, cared deeply, and served willingly. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Catherine Alvarez; also by two brothers Julian Alvarez and Fernando Alvarez.

He is survived by his sister, Bertha and her husband Jose Ramirez; Nieces Laura Ramirez, Christina Ramirez, Rosemary Alvarez, Juanita Alvarez, Elvira Alvarez, Clara Alvarez, Marty Bernette Calvin, and Juanita Fobb; Nephew Sergio Ramirez; Great Nephews Christopher Juarez, Issiah Franco, Matthew Borunda, Brandon Franco and Aiden Castro; also a host of numerous cousins. His family, each touched by his gentle spirit and love, will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
