Viewing and visitation for Mr. Gomesindo Perez Jr., 77 of Lubbock, will begin on Friday, January 24, 2025, 11:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Deacon Joe Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
On the afternoon of Sunday, January 19, 2025, Gomesindo Perez Jr. went to be with the Lord. He was born on August 14, 1947, to late Gomesindo Sr. and Paula Perez. Later in life he met Elva Vasquez in Lubbock cherishing thirty years together. He was a devoted and faithful Catholic. Gomesindo made many annual trips to see the Virgin of San Juan, reflecting his deep faith and commitment to his beliefs.
Gomesindo’s commitment to his work was exemplary. Serving as a custodian for Trinity Church, he took great pride in maintaining the very important place of worship and fellowship for the community.
He was known for his caring personality. He never met a stranger and embraced everyone with open arms, earning him the title of "compadre" to many. His friendly demeanor and generous spirit left a lasting impression on family, friends, and those fortunate enough to cross his path.
Gomesindo’s interests were diverse and brought him much joy. He was a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys and followed wrestling with great enthusiasm. Those who knew him fondly remember his love for indulging in donuts and coffee. He also took pride in maintaining his yard, where he would often spend leisurely hours.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gomesindo Sr. and Paula Perez; brothers Antonio Perez, Ambrosio Perez and Pasqual Perez; a sister Guadalupe Madrigal; grandchildren Ashley Chapa, Gomesindo Perez III, and Davion Boswell; and a son in law Pablo Ballejo.
Gomesindo is survived by his loving partner Elva Vasquez of Lubbock; sons Gomesindo Perez II (Monica), Fabian Vasquez and David Casarez all of Lubbock; daughters Silvia Ballejo of Lubbock, Alma Vasquez of Austin, Mary Ester Vasquez of Lubbock and Vivian Sanchez (Andrew) of Lubbock; brother Nabor Perez of New Deal; sister Consuelo DeAnda of Stratford, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen + great grandchildren.
