Gloria Fuentes

Gloria M. Fuentes, 72, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 in Lubbock.  Services for Mrs. Fuentes will be 10:00 a.m., August 3, 2018 at Victory Christian Center with Pastor Roy Rosas officiating.  Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday August 2, 2018 at Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.

Gloria was born May 2, 1946 in Loving, New Mexico to Andres and Dominga Martinez.  She married Joe Fuentes on May 17, 1974 in Carlsbad, New Mexico and worked at Covenant Lakeside as an environmental tech for many years. She also enjoyed being a caretaker, going out of her way to help set lunch and dinner for the Mary Myers Senior Living Department, and especially going to church.  She had a love for her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren that brought her joy and memories that are unforgettable.

She is survived by her husband Joe Fuentes of Lubbock, three daughters, Christina (Julian Sr.) Garza of Arlington, Betty (Marcos) Montemayor of Lubbock, and Elizabeth (Alfred) De La Cruz of Ft. Worth; four brothers, Victor Martinez of Carlsbad, N.M., Tony Martinez of Albuquerque, N.M., Mario Martinez and Frank Martinez both of Lubbock, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Uriah De La Cruz in 1998.
