Mr. Gilberto Oyervidez Jr., 70 of Lubbock passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022. Viewing and visitation for Mr. Oyervidez will begin Tuesday, September 20, 2022, from 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.  with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. the same day at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Rudy Crasta officiating.  Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.

Gilberto was born January 4, 1952, in Spade, Texas to the late Gilberto Sr. and Elvira Oyervidez. In 1970, he went onto marry Amelia Lopez in Lubbock. Gilberto was a very hard worker, he worked as a janitor for numerous years and always provided for his family. He was Catholic, a devoted member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and worked twenty plus years as a sacristan. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, being a jokester and cheering The Dallas Cowboys on to victory. His family will always remember how he loved to spend time with them, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Gilberto Sr. and Elvira Oyervidez; and a sister Olivia Garza.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Amelia Oyervidez; a son Gilberto Oyervidez III; three daughters Connie Zavala, Rose Moreno and Mary Oyervidez; a brother Juan Oyervidez; a sister Sally Mata; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren all of Lubbock.

 

Gilberto Oyervidez Jr., de 70 años, de Lubbock, falleció el domingo 18 de Septiembre de 2022. El velorio y las visitas al Sr. Oyervidez comenzarán el martes 20 de Septiembre de 2022, de 11:00 a. m. a 8:00 p. m. con un rosario a las 6:00 p.m. el mismo día en la Capilla de la Funeraria Calvillo. La misa fúnebre comenzará a las 11:00 a. m. del miércoles 21 de Septiembre de 2022 en la iglesia católica Our Lady of Grace con el padre Rudy Crasta como oficiante. El entierro seguirá en Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park bajo la dirección de Calvillo Funeral Home.

Gilberto nació el 4 de enero de 1952 en Spade, Texas, hijo del difunto Gilberto Sr. y Elvira Oyervidez. En 1970, se casó con Amelia López en Lubbock. Gilberto era muy trabajador, trabajó como conserje durante muchos años y siempre mantuvo a su familia. Era católico, un miembro devoto de la Iglesia Católica Our Lady of Grace y trabajó más de veinte años como sacristán. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba de la pesca, ser un bromista y animar a los Dallas Cowboys a la victoria. Su familia siempre recordará cómo le encantaba pasar tiempo con ellos, especialmente con sus nietos. Será muy extrañado por todos los que lo conocieron y lo amaron.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres Gilberto Sr. y Elvira Oyervidez; y una hermana Olivia Garza.

Quienes quedan para apreciar su memoria son su amada esposa, Amelia Oyervidez; un hijo Gilberto Oyervidez III; tres hijas Connie Zavala, Rose Moreno y Mary Oyervidez; un hermano Juan Oyervidez; una hermana Sally Mata; nueve nietos y dieciséis bisnietos todos de Lubbock.
