Elvira Montoya

Elvira G. Montoya, 83, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 in Lubbock.  Services for Ms. Montoya will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Raymundo Manriquez officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.  A rosary will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Calvillo Funeral Home.

Elvira was born January 10, 1935 in Weslaco, TX to Fidel & Tomasa Garcia. She was a Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Elvira’s past times included keeping up with her home, watching novelas and spending time with her cat “Chico”. Her family will always remember the love she had for them.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leandro Alderete and a son Leandro Alderete Jr.

She is survived by her daughters San Juana (Danny) Bernal of Dallas, Diamantina Kolojaco of Houston, Frances (Frank) Hernandez of Lubbock, Victoria (Les) Compton of California; Brother Ray Garcia of Dallas; Sisters Adela Tobar of New Mexico, Toni Ramon of Lubbock, Janie Juarez of Lubbock, Berta Lara of Lubbock and Angelica Nava of Pasadena; Seventeen grandchildren, Twenty-six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was also very dearly loved by her second family Randy and Susan Andrews; Christy McCleandon; Jeffery and Gary Andrews all of Lubbock.
