Viewing and visitation for Elisa Davila Medrano, 88 of Lubbock will begin Sunday, December 31, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Life will begin 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Picon officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
On the morning of December 28, 2023, Elisa went to be with the Lord. She was born on August 24, 1934, in Karnes City, Texas, to the late Simon and Maria Davila. Later in life she went on to marry Polo Medrano Sr. cherishing numerous loving years together before he preceded her in death on November 25, 2006.
Elisa dedicated many years of her life working in the Housekeeping Department at Methodist Hospital. Her commitment and hard work left an indelible mark on her colleagues and the hospital as a whole. Elisa's diligence and attention to detail were truly admirable. She took pride in her work and lived each day with a strong work ethic.
Outside of her career, Elisa was an exceptional cook. Her culinary skills were renowned among family and friends. Whether it was a family gathering or an intimate dinner, Elisa's delicious meals brought joy to all who savored them.
Elisa had a wide range of interests and hobbies that made her life vibrant and fulfilling. She had a passion for traveling and exploring new places. As an avid supporter of Texas Tech University, Elisa would cheer on the team passionately. She loved to listen to music, especially Tejano. However Christian music, brought inspiration, worship and comfort through the melodies and lyrics. Additionally, she enjoyed going out to eat with loved ones, savoring the joy of dining together.
Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories they made with her and the love she shared with them.
Elisa was preceded in death by her husband Polo Medrano Sr.; her parents Simon and Maria Davila; her sons Rudy Ortega and Geronimo Medrano; a daughter Sofia Medrano and a brother Ruben Vera.
She is survived by four sons: Polo Medrano Jr. and wife Janie of Lubbock, Jimmy Medrano and his wife Oralia of Lubbock, Francisco Medrano and his wife Teresa of San Antonio, and Simon Medrano and his wife Esmeralda of Lubbock. Daughters Lucy and her husband Gary Kinney of Lubbock, and Susie Ortega of Ft. Worth; A brother Ramon Vega of Galveston; Thirty-three grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
