Cecilia Olvera

Rosary for Cecilia “Lily” Olvera, 88 of Lubbock will be Friday, June 5, 2020 at 7 PM at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel-Lubbock. With viewing beginning the same day, 11 AM-9 PM at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel-Lubbock. Funeral services will be 10 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2020, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Daniel Garza officiating with burial following in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

Ms. Olvera went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. She was born on November 22, 1931 in San Marcos, Texas to the late Yasias and Epifania Olvera. Cecilia was a Catholic by faith. She had a passion for singing and sang as the lead singer at “El Capitan”. Before retiring she worked numerous years for Lubbock National Bank and loved to travel when she could. Her greatest joy in life, however, was spending time with her family. “Lily” will be greatly missed by her family and will always be in their hearts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Yasias and Epifania Olvera.

Survivors include her son John David Olvera of Lubbock; daughters Diane and husband Brad Patrick of Lubbock, Marta and husband Arnie Alvarez of Lubbock; five sisters Alma Ramirez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Nora Carmago of Sherman, Texas, Juanita Coy of San Marcos, Texas, Irene Camacho of San Marcos, Texas and Maria Torres of Lubbock; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
