Benancia Arevalo

Benancia M. Arevalo, 100, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at her home in Lubbock.  Services for Mrs. Arevalo will be 10:00a.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Jim McCartney officiating.  Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.  A rosary will be held 7:00p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel.  There will be a viewing from 1:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.

Benancia was born April 1, 1918 in San Patricio, Texas to Pablo Sr. and Barbarita Martinez.  She worked as a presser for several cleaners; namely Gristy and Don’s Cleaners.  She was a centenarian who lived her life to the fullest.  She loved to dance, make clothes, and specially gardening where she cherished taking very special care of her rose bushes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Severo Arevalo (March 8, 1987), two sons Geronimo M. Alvarado, Jose Cipriano Alvarado, one daughter Maria Alvarado.

She is survived by one daughter Juanita (Octavino) Torres, five granddaughters whom helped caring for her Norma Buckingham, Ester Robledo, Alice DeLa Cruz Lupe Rodriguez, Linda Martinez; twenty two grandchildren; host of Great grandchildren and Great-Great grandchildren.
