Arturo Vasquez Sr.

Viewing and visitation for Arturo Vasquez Sr., 69 of Lubbock will begin 11:00AM, Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Calvillo Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 24, 2020 at Calvillo Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Parmer officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.

Mr. Vasquez passed away Monday, January 20, 2020. He was born on October 29, 1950 in Tahoka to Abelia & Manuel Vasquez. Arturo was a farmer for forty years he worked for 4-H farms and Bryan Wright Farms. On April 7, 2005 he married Janie Zavala in Wilson, Texas. Arturo loved sports; he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. However, baseball was his favorite sport he loved cheering on the Texas Rangers to victory along with his three cats “Wuido, Sally and Tiger.”. The Vasquez family will always remember the love he had for them.

He is preceded in death by his father Manuel Vasquez and a sister Francis Mendoza.

Survivors include his loving wife Janie Vasquez of Wilson; his mother Abelia Vasquez of Idalou; sons Jerry (Dora) Vasquez of Lubbock, Greg Vasquez of Lubbock and Arturo (Ashley) Vasquez Jr. of Slaton; a daughter Dana Vasquez of Lubbock; Siblings Manuel (Leticia) Vasquez of Wolfforth, Margaret Garcia of Idalou, Felix Vasquez of Idalou, Eliseo (Lupe) Vasquez of Lubbock, Adan Vasquez of North Carolina, Abel (Yolanda) Vasquez of Roundrock; Vicki (Manuel) Vasquez of Idalou, Christina (Fred)  Flores of Georgia, Liza Vasquez of Idalou; a step-son Patrick (Jennifer) Zavala of Lubbock; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
