Anita Villanueva Rivera

Viewing and visitation for Anita Villanueva Rivera, 68 of Lubbock, will begin, Monday, May 29, 2023, 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, 10:00 a.m., at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Father Reymundo Manriquez officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

Ms. Anita was called to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 21, 2023. She was born on September 16, 1954, in Taylor, Texas to Nedio Sr. and Placida Villanueva. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, was an avid fan of The Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Red Raiders. Cooking and baking were also special hobbies to Anita, which everyone knows she made the best pies. She had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need, especially the homeless. However, Anita’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews were her whole world. Anita will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her father Nedio Villanueva Sr.; her loving partner Dionicio “Nicho” Garcia; an infant daughter Sonya Ann Garcia and a sister Lilia Acosta.

Survivors include her two sons Mike Garcia (Maria Gonzales) and David Garcia both of Lubbock; two daughters Belinda Vasquez (Ruben Torres) and Monica Garcia (Paul Bolanos) both of Lubbock; her mother Placida Villanueva of Lubbock; two brothers Mike Villanueva (Alicia Perez) of Lubbock and Nedio Villanueva Jr. of DeLeon, Texas; five sisters Janie Castillo (Ted Castillo) of Lamesa, Dora Villanueva of Lubbock, Gloria Granado (Daniel Uriegas) of Lubbock, Diana Villanueva (Paul Prieto) of Lubbock and Olga Martinez of Lubbock; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
