Ana Vasquez

Viewing and visitation for Ana “Grandma Annie” Garza Vasquez, 81 of Lubbock will begin on Monday, August 12, 2019, 3 PM at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. A recitation of the rosary will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2109 at 7 PM at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Thanavelil officiating. Burial will follow at The City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.

Grandma Annie went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 8, 2019. She was born on February 8, 1938 in Manor, Texas to the late Claudio and Margarita Garza. She married Odon Vasquez on August 3, 1964 in Lubbock. He preceded her in death.

Grandma Annie worked for Lubbock Independent School District for 5 years then retiring from Lubbock County for after 22 years where she had been a maintenance employee at the Lubbock County Court House. She loved to attend mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, she was a member her whole life. Grandma Annie loved to baby sit for her family members as well as gardening.

She is preceded in death by three sisters Virginia Galvan, Helen Samarripa, Francis Rodriguez, two brothers Ramon Garza, Alfred Garza and a son Odon Vasquez Jr.

Survivors include, two sons, Christopher (Maggie) Vasquez and Selestino (Janice) Vasquez all of Lubbock, a daughter Annette Vasquez of Lubbock, two brothers Antonio Garza of Wolfforth, Abel Garza of Austin, three sisters Evangelina Canales of New Deal, Maria Louise Garza of Lubbock, Oralia Garza of Lubbock, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great -great grandchild.
