Lubbock

Viewing and visitation for Alexander P. Acosta, 78 of Lubbock, will begin at 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, December 18, 2023, Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same afternoon. The funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Martín Pina officiating. Burial will follow in the Lubbock City Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

On the morning of December 12, 2023, Alexander went to be with the Lord. He was born January 12, 1945, in Navasota, Texas, to the late Pedro Acosta and Incarnacion Mendiola Acosta.

He was a very hard-working and dedicated person. He worked as a truck driver for many years before moving to Lubbock. Where he worked for Texas Tech as a custodian for thirteen years. Alexander showed his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. He faced each day with determination and was very proud of his profession.

Outside of his professional life, Alexander had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. He enjoyed doing his own housework and found satisfaction in completing tasks around his home. In his free time, he enjoyed watching action movies, each movie sparked his enthusiasm with each action-packed scene. Music held a special place in Alexander's heart; He had an affinity for country, Spanish, and Tejano music. In fact, he even played the electric piano himself, bringing melodious melodies to the lives of those around him.

Alexander will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Pedro Acosta and Incarnacion Mendiola Acosta.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Maria Acosta of Lubbock; sons Alexander Acosta Jr. of Lubbock and Christopher Acosta of Waco; daughters Julie Hernandez of Lubbock and Michael Ann Acosta of Waco; brother Joe Acosta of Lubbock; sisters Minnie Acosta, Margarita Acosta, Isabel Acosta and Andrea Acosta all of Lubbock. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Acosta, 78 de Lubbock, comenzará de 10:00 a. m. a 8:00 p. m., el lunes 18 de diciembre de 2023 en la Capilla de la Funeraria Calvillo con un rosario que comenzará a las 6:00 p. m. la misma tarde. La misa fúnebre comenzará a las 10:00 a. m. del martes 19 de diciembre de 2023 en la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe con el padre Martín Pina oficiando. Fuera de su vida profesional, Alexander tenía una variedad de pasatiempos e intereses que le proporcionaban una inmensa alegría. Le gustaba hacer sus propias tareas domésticas y encontraba satisfacción al realizar tareas en su hogar. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba viendo películas de acción, cada película despertaba su entusiasmo con cada escena llena de acción. La música ocupaba un lugar especial en el corazón de Alejandro; tenía afinidad por la música country, española y de Tejano. De hecho, él mismo incluso tocaba el piano eléctrico, aportando melodías melodiosas a las vidas de quienes lo rodeaban.
